Position Overview: Valley View Health Centers (VVHC) is a division of the Community Action Committee of Pike County.

This position provides administrative support by increasing access to affordable, high quality integrated health care for all.



Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Successfully completed an accredited dental hygiene program and currently licensed as Registered Dental Hygienist through the Ohio State Dental Board.

  • At least one year and a minimum of one thousand five hundred hours of experience in the practice of dental hygiene; has successfully completed a course approved by the state dental board in the identification and prevention of potential medical emergencies.

  • Current valid driverʹs license, proof of automobile insurance, insurable under agency insurance policy and reliable transportation.

Preference:

  • Individuals who have completed a six hour course in the administration or monitoring of N2O‐O2 (nitrous oxide‐oxygen) minimal sedation provided by a permanent sponsor.

  • Has completed a board‐approved course in the administration of local anesthesia and successfully passed the Northeast Regional Board of Dental Examiners, Inc. (NERB) local anesthesia examination for dental hygienists or an equivalent examination approved by the board.

  • Successful completion of a board approved course that prepares dental hygienists to properly and safely practice dental hygiene under the Oral Health Access Supervision Program (OHASP) and holds or eligible to hold a valid OHASP permit.

  • Prior experience with digital radiography and electronic dental health records.

  • Prior experience working with preschool and young children in a dental setting.

  •  Familiarity with Community Health Center and/or Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) dental programs.

  •   Primary Source verification of licensure, registration, or certification

  •   Primary Source verification of education and training.

  •   Completion of a query of the Office of Inspector General (OIG)

  •   Three (3) professional letters of recommendation.

      Direct Patient Contact Requirements:

      •   Primary Source verification of licensure, registration, or certification

      •   Primary Source verification of education and training.

      •   Completion of a query of the Office of Inspector General (OIG)

      •   Current BLS/CPR certification.

      •   Proof of annual PPD (TB) test.

      •   Standards of Conduct and Conflict of Interest self-declaration

      •   Annual blood borne pathogen training.

      •   Annual HIPAA training

      •   Compliance with VVHC’s Employee Uniform/Attire

Physical, Mental and Visual Abilities Required:

  •   While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly to sit; use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

  •   The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

  •   Work requires the ability to exchange information on factual matters, communicate in a variety of manners with patients and staff, and explain policies of the centers.

  •   Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    Essential Job Functions:

    •   Provide direct patient care and dental services as trained, licensed, and assigned. Assess dental conditions and patient needs using approved patient screening procedures, including medical history review/recording, dental charting, and periodontal charting.

    •   Evaluate overall oral health, examining oral cavity for signs of periodontal disease, including recessed & bleeding gingival tissues and oral lesions.

    •   Maintain minimum productivity standards, which include but are not limited to: maintaining a dental hygiene schedule, establishing and maintaining a dental recall system, treating minimum of 1,800 patients per year, and other productivity standards as implemented by the Dental Director/Director of Dental Operations.

    •   Perform duties in accordance with established health center policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement activities, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.

    •   Responsible for data collection, patient self-management goals, and all other duties as identified in the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) delivery of care model.

    •   Prepare, maintain, clean, and disinfect the dental clinic in compliance with OSHA regulations, including, but not limited to; removal of biohazard waste, clean, lubricate, and sterilize instruments and arrange for their use, operatory suites, sterilization room, and laboratory.

    •   Maintain optimal operation of operating equipment, including, but not limited to hand pieces, radiographic equipment, autoclave, ultrasonic, water distiller, amalgam separator, and the central evacuation center (pump/compressor).

    •   Maintenance of dental supplies, including, but not limited to stocking dental supplies, checking and putting away supply orders, inventory instruments/supplies, and noting items that need reordered.

    •   Prepare and submit patient’s dental insurance pre-authorizations in accordance to the dentist diagnosis.

    •   Exhibit a courteous demeanor, duties are completed in a timely and professional manner.

    •   Demonstrate commitment to the mission of the organization in promoting oral health.

    •   Provide leadership and training to new dental staff.

    •   Advise the Director of Dental Operations as appropriate on changes to improve the dental program,

      including changes that may improve and enhance the VVHC dental program.

    •   Assist the Director of Dental Operations with additional duties, including but not limited to, supply ordering, SDS manual, infection control monitoring, and problem solving EMR and digital imaging

      issues.

    •   Responsible for establishing a safe work environment and ensuring compliance with Safety Policies

      and Procedures.

    •   Attend meetings, conferences and training sessions related to the duties of this position and

      disseminate acquired information to appropriate individuals inside and outside the agency.

    •   Must be self-motivated. Ability to do multiple tasks at one given time.

    •   Ability to handle confidential information in professional in manner.

    •   Ability to communicate with the general public in friendly, courteous, and pleasant manner.

    •   Work well with minimal supervision.

    •   Remain calm in times of crisis.

    •   Responsible, along with other staff, for keeping the health center, office areas, kitchen and supply

areas clean and orderly.

 Assist with other duties as defined by assigned supervisor when other work is necessary to fulfill the obligations of the Valley View Health Centers and/or CAC.

    • Assist with other duties as defined by assigned supervisor when other work is necessary to fulfill

      the obligations of the Valley View Health Centers and/or CAC.
